Chonburi announces 1,320 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and one new death

Highlights:

  • 1,320 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 4,775 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.
  • 882 (PCR) and 2,189 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care
  • One new death

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,320 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with one new death, March 16th, 2022.

This makes a total of 57,902 cases (PCR) and 69,405 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 10,810 (PCR) and 29,691 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 101 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 882 (PCR) and 2,189 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 46,991 (PCR) and 39,714 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Three people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. One of them was vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic, 99.4% percent in total.
The one new death was aged 90 with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. ฺThe person was not vaccinated.
In total, 2,012,097 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 86.39 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 305,981 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.71 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
884,572 people have received their triple dose which is 37.98 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 154,615 are 608 groups which is 41.80 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 170, Si Racha 520, Banglamung (Pattaya) 313, Panat Nikhom 7, Sattahip 70, Ban Bueng 60, Phan Thong 49, ฺBor Thong 5, Ko Chan 7, Nong Yai 7, Ko Si Chang 2, and 110 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.
The details on the cases are as follows:
  1. Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 88 cases
  2. Cluster, CLZ company in Si Racha, 10 cases
  3. Cluster, Fujitsu company in Si Racha, 5 cases
  4. Risky occupations meeting many people, 44 cases
  5. 23 medical personnel
  6. 9 back from other provinces from Samut Prakan (3), Sa Kaeo (2), Bangkok (1), Chachoengsao (1), Nakhon Pathom (1), and Phuket (1)
  7. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 243 cases, in workplaces –95 cases, close personal contacts – 83 cases, and joined a party – 1 case
  8. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 53 cases
  9. 666 cases of close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
