Unidentified man dies after being hit by a train in Pattaya

Banglamung/Pattaya –

An unidentified man has been pronounced dead near a railway in Banglamung this morning (March 14th).

The Banglamung Police were notified of the accident in Soi Khao Noi in the Nongprue sub-district after midnight.

Police, emergency responders, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of the man near the railway junction bleeding heavily from a head wound. No identification documents were found with him. His age was presumed around 40-50 years old.

The train driver, Mr. Wittaya Sawangchue, 56, told The Pattaya News, “I was driving the oil train from Phitsaulok to Map Ta Phut in Rayong.”

“I saw the man was sitting near the railway. I attempted to honk my horn and stopped the train but failed. He was hit by the train before I called police.” Wittaya concluded.

A witness, Mr. Tanakrit Kunwasinlapakarn, 26, told The Pattaya News, “I was on a motorbike stopped at the junction waiting for the train to pass. I heard the train horn before the man was hit.”

Police are continuing their investigation and to identify the man as well as determine if the incident was an accident or potential suicide.
