Chonburi announces 1,191 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and four new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,191 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 2,799 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.

  • 1,247 (PCR) and 1,959 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Four new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,191 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 with four new deaths today, March 13th, 2022.

This makes a total of 54,577 cases (PCR) and 58,973 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 10,856 (PCR) and 25,344 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 85 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,247 (PCR) and 1,959(ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 43,632 (PCR) and 33,629 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Two people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. Both of them were vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic.

Four new deaths were at the age of 79, 82, 84, and 85 years old who had personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. Three of them were not vaccinated.

In total, 2,009,379 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 86.27 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 305,853 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.68 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

878,442 people have received their triple dose which is 37.72 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 154,614 are 608 groups which are 41.79 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 217, Si Racha 415, Banglamung (Pattaya) 273, Panat Nikhom 17, Sattahip 56, Ban Bueng 42, Phan Thong 66, Bor Thong 9, Ko Chan 11, Nong Yai 4, Ko Si Chang 3, and 78 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

  2. Cluster, Fujitsu General company in Si Racha, 5 cases
  3. Risky occupations meeting many people, 34 cases
  4. 25 medical personnel
  5. 1 back from other provinces from Samut Prakan.
  6. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 275 cases, in workplaces –47 cases, close personal contacts – 72 cases, and joined a party – 5 cases
  7. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 17 cases
  8. 644 cases close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
