Thailand reported a total of 22,073 daily Covid-19 infections with 69 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 9th.
The fatalities were 42 men and 27 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 15. 68 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 17 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (5), obesity (1), and kidney disease (19). Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients and one was reportedly deceased at home.
Of the new cases, 21,653 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 177 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 151 were from prisons, and the remaining 92 were imported cases.
A number of 221,585 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,200 patients are in critical condition including 404 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.54 percent of cases that are critical while 33.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,152, followed by Chonburi with 976, Samut Prakan with 964, Nonthaburi with 911, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 888, and Samut Sakhon with 735.
A total number of 162,439 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 55,280 people had received their first shots, 18,227 people had received their second shots, and 88,932 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.7% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 30.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 24,747 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,088,873 cases with 2,843,850 recoveries and a total of 23,438 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
