Chonburi announces 976 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and five new deaths

Highlights:

  • 976 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 2,411 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR.
  • 1,429 (PCR) and 1,186 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Five new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 976 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with five new deaths, March 9th, 2022.

This makes a total of 49,819 cases (PCR) and 46,122 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 10,960 (PCR) and 19,421 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 79 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,429 (PCR) and 1,186 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 38,780 (PCR) and 26,701 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
Seven people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. Two of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic, 99.2% percent in total.
In total, 1,995,421 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 85.67 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 305,335 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.54 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
849,951 people have received their triple dose which is 36.49 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 144,509 are 608 groups which are 39.06 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 185, Si Racha 275, Banglamung (Pattaya) 220, Panat Nikhom 16, Sattahip 46, Ban Bueng 108, Phan Thong 39, ฺBor Thong 7, Ko Chan 11, Nong Yai 11, and 58 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  1. Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 45 cases
  2. Risky occupations meeting many people, 34 cases
  3. 22 medical personnel
  4. 5 back from other provinces from Bangkok, Roi-Et, Samut Prakan, Loei, and Chachoengsao
  5. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 214 cases, in workplaces –83 cases, close personal contacts – 54 cases, and joined a party – 4 case
  6. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 53 cases
  7. 462 cases close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
