RECAP: Thailand announces 23,834 daily Covid-19 infections with 54 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 23,834 daily Covid-19 infections with 54 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 4th.

The fatalities were 30 men and 24 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok and Phuket with 5 each. 53 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 1 and 91 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (3), obesity (4), and kidney disease (16). Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients and one was reportedly deceased at home.

Of the new cases, 23,267 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 336 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 85 were from prisons, and the remaining 146 were imported cases.

A number of 227,843 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,115 patients are in critical condition including 337 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.48 percent of cases that are critical while 30.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,580, followed by Chonburi with 1,320, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,124, Samut Prakan with 953, Nakhon Ratchasima with 814, and Pathum Thani with 689.

A total number of 208,670 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 71,198 people had received their first shots, 24,486 people had received their second shots, and 112,986 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.6% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 29.9% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 19,351 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,981,996 cases with 2,731,029 recoveries and a total of 23,124 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
