Unidentified man breaks both legs after crashing his motorbike into a bridge in the Pattaya area, rescued from watery ditch

Banglamung –

An unidentified male driver has sustained two broken legs after he fell into a flooded ditch after crashing into a bridge and then falling into the water early this morning (March 3rd).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 1:00 A.M. near a bridge in Soi Suk Somboon 7/1 in Nong Plalai sub-district.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the damaged yellow motorbike on the road. A male driver with two broken legs was found in a watery ditch nearby, partially submerged in the water and unable to escape. Friends of the driver were attempting to keep him above water and pull him to the ground nearby until rescue workers arrived. The driver’s full name was not available as of press time and he did not have any identification documents.

His friends said they were driving on motorbikes when the injured man lost control before crashing into the bridge and falling into the ditch, where he broke both his legs.

Banglamung police believe speed was a factor in the accident and that the group of men may have been racing prior to the incident, although the friends of the injured man denied this. Law enforcement plans to interview the man following surgery on his legs and fully identify him as well as determine what exactly happened that led to the accident. Emergency workers stated the man was “very lucky” to have survived the accident and fall.
