RECAP: Thailand announces 23,618 daily Covid-19 infections with 49 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 23,618 daily Covid-19 infections with 49 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 3rd.

The fatalities were 24 men and 25 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 10. 47 of them were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 31 and 99 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (2), obesity (8), and kidney disease (11). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients and two were reportedly deceased at home.

Of the new cases, 22,939 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 272 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 226 were from prisons, and the remaining 181 were imported cases.

A number of 223,414 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,131 patients are in critical condition including 325 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.50 percent of cases that are critical while 28.7 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,279, followed by Chonburi with 1,217, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 959, Samut Prakan with 953, Rayong with 754, and Nonthaburi with 739.

A total number of 150,694 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 51,366 people had received their first shots, 16,964 people had received their second shots, and 82,364 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.6% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 29.7% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 18,939 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,958,162 cases with 2,711,678 recoveries and a total of 23,070 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
