Unidentified foreign man found dead on beach at Koh Larn, police investigating “wounds of interest”

Koh Larn –

An unidentified foreign man, believed to be in his 30’s and possibly a Russian national, was found dead on a beach at Koh Larn this afternoon.

The Pattaya City Police were notified of the body at Tien Beach earlier today when a local resident came upon the deceased man. Police and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of a foreign caucasian man with a shaved head on the beach. The man was wearing double T-shirts, one of which had a large symbol of the Russian Navy on it which led Pattaya Police to suspect the foreigner was possibly a Russian national. The man was naked from the waist down.

Wounds were found near his right eye and eyebrow along with dried blood. A few feet away from the deceased man were three pairs of men’s underwear and a single shoe. No wallet or identification was found. The wounds were described as “of interest” by police but officers were unable to immediately determine the cause of death and if any foul play was involved, although said they would conclude their investigation soon.

The Pattaya City Chief Colonel Kunlachart Kunlachai who personally responded to the scene with a dispatch of officers told The Pattaya News, “An autopsy will be conducted to find his cause of death while the investigation is continuing to identify the man. We are not ruling out anything at this point but need to examine the body further as well as to conduct a further investigation in the nearby area. We also want to advise tourists to be aware of their surroundings and not drink too much alcohol. We will communicate any further details in this case.”

TPN media notes this is a developing story and will provide updates if and when they become available.
