Thailand reported a total of 24,719 daily Covid-19 infections with 42 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 27th.
The fatalities were 24 men and 18 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 6. 39 of them were Thai nationals two were Myanmar nationals, and one was a German national. The age range was between 28 and 99 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), obesity (2), and kidney disease (4). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 24,360 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 167 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 72 were from prisons, and the remaining 120 were imported cases.
A number of 208,846 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 955 patients are in critical condition including 268 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.45 percent of cases that are critical while 28.0 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,645, followed by Chonburi with 1,434, Samut Prakan with 1,068, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,011, Nakhon Ratchasima with 882, and Nonthaburi with 774.
A total number of 303,092 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 67,406 people had received their first shots, 33,769 people had received their second shots, and 201,917 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 29.1% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 16,875 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,869,616 cases with 2,637,879 recoveries and a total of 22,891 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
