Thailand reported a total of 24,932 daily Covid-19 infections with 41 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 25th.
The fatalities were 20 men and 21 women with the highest deaths recorded in Surat Thani with 5. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 3 months and 104 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (16), diabetes (14), hyperlipidemia (8), obesity (6), and kidney disease (14). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 24,447 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 117 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 201 were from prisons, and the remaining 167 were imported cases. Today also reaches a record high for cases in Thailand, last reached in August of 2021.
A number of 190,110 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 931 patients are in critical condition including 254 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.48 percent of cases that are critical while 27.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,285, followed by Chonburi with 1,419, Samut Prakan with 1,128, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 911, Nonthaburi with 775, and Ratchaburi with 738.
A total number of 305,763 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 74,894 people had received their first shots, 39,874 people had received their second shots, and 190,995 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.7% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 28.5% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 15,774 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,819,282 cases with 2,606,363 recoveries and a total of 22,809 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
