Thailand discovered a total of 18,363 daily Covid-19 infections with 35 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 22nd.
The fatalities were 25 men and 10 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 8. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 14 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (17), diabetes (15), hyperlipidemia (9), obesity (2), and kidney disease (8). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 18,129 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 76 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 31 were from prisons, and the remaining 127 were imported cases.
A number of 169,074 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 827 patients are in critical condition including 214 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.48 percent of cases that are critical while 25.8 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,638, followed by Chonburi with 929, Samut Prakan with 887, Nonthaburi with 792, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 741, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 716.
A total number of 190,673 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 36,655 people had received their first shots, 24,981 people had received their second shots, and 129,037 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 27.7% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 15,651 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,749,561 cases with 2,557,796 recoveries and a total of 22,691 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
