The Samet Police was notified of the incident yesterday afternoon (February 20th) at a house in the Samet sub-district.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the house to find the body of Mrs. Tassana Boonyakarn, 61. A bullet wound was found on her neck and determined by rescue staff as the cause of death.

Her husband, Mr. Thitikun Boonyakarn, 67, a former deputy manager of an electricity authority, was found in a state of extreme emotional distress, crying at the scene.  A handgun was found in the house and the couple’s adult son and daughter were also present and uninjured.

The Chonburi Provincial Police Commander Colonel Maykawit Praditphon told TPN media, “Mr. Thitikun was reportedly arguing with his wife regarding taking out the garbage and not leaving it in the house. According to his children, the couple had argued about this issue many times before, but this time Mr. Thitikun took out a firearm and shot his wife in anger. He reportedly tried to shoot himself as well but his daughter took the gun away and called authorities.”

“At this stage Mr. Thitikun is facing charges of murder and was taken into custody, remaining there as of press time.”
