Chonburi announces 821 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and one new death

Highlights:

  • 821 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 591 positive ATK tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR.

  • 554 people recovered and were released from medical care

  • One new death

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 821 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with one new death, February 17th, 2022.

This makes a total of 27,697 cases of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 7,216 people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 37 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 544 people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 20,518 people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
The one new death was at the age of 83 with personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. The person was not vaccinated.
In total, 1,962,513 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 84.26 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 303,278 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 81.98 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
725,787 people have received their triple dose which is 31.16 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 124,910 are 608 groups which are 33.77 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 162, Si Racha 225, Banglamung (Pattaya) 183, Panat Nikhom 36, Sattahip 59, Ban Bueng 20, Phan Thong 53, ฺBor Thong 6, Ko Chan 4, Nong Yai 1, Ko Sichang 1, and 71 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  1. Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 66 cases
  2. Cluster, Essilor Optical Laboratory company (Staffers joined a party in another province) in Phan Thong, 11 cases
  3. Cluster, Fujitsu General (Thailand) company in Si Racha, 6 cases
  4. Cluster, Top Link Industrial company in Si Racha, 4 cases
  5. Risky occupations meeting many people, 41 cases
  6. 10 medical personnel
  7. 6 back from other provinces from Bangkok (2), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Lop Buri (1), Si Saket (1), Suphan Buri (1)
  8.  Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 212 cases, in workplaces –115 cases, close personal contacts – 62 cases, and joined a party – 4 cases
  9. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 13 cases
  10. 271 cases close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
