Bangkok –
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha urged the public to understand a new way of living safely with the Covid-19 Coronavirus, a government spokesperson stated today, February 7th.
Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said that the Prime Minister had been watchful on the Covid-19 domestic situation in Thailand and ordered all related departments to closely monitor the infection situation after the number of daily infections have reached over ten thousand for three consecutive days.
The Public Health Ministry reminded the public that although the Omicron variant spread quickly, the symptoms were not more severe than the Delta variant as seen in the stable number of deaths and critical patients and that the vast majority of cases were mild or asymptomatic. The public health system could still control the situation and could provide medical assistance to patients with severe conditions. Patients with no symptoms or minor symptoms were given home isolation and treatments.
The Prime Minister then ordered the government to create a public understanding that people could all live with Covid-19 safely under strict preventive measures. He also reassured that there would be a review of the current preventive measures, including the relaxation of the measures, at the next CCSA (Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration) meeting to help people live normally as soon as possible.
This upcoming meeting, which we covered in this article here, may be as early as the end of this week.
