Thailand discovered a total of 10,879 daily Covid-19 infections with 20 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 6th.
The fatalities were 10 men and 10 women with the highest number recorded in Ayutthaya with 3. 18 of them were Thai nationals, one of each was an American and Myanmar national. The age range was between 35 and 98 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (5), diabetes (8), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (2), and kidney disease (3). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 10,622 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 49 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 30 were from prisons, and the remaining 178 were imported cases.
A number of 91,037 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 533 patients are in critical condition including 104 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.58 percent of cases that are critical while 19.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,470, followed by Samut Prakan with 1,282, Chonburi with 556, Nonthaburi with 439, Phuket with 415, and Samut Sakhon with 285.
A total number of 250,182 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 31,479 people had received their first shots, 53,255 people had received their second shots, and 165,448 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 70.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 22.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 8,285 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,497,001 cases with 2,383,673 recoveries and a total of 22,291 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
