Thailand discovered a total of 8,450 daily Covid-19 infections with 28 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 28th.
The fatalities were 17 men and 11 women with the highest number recorded in Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 3. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 17 months and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (14), diabetes (5), hyperlipidemia (6), obesity (5), and kidney disease (3). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 8,153 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 38 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 48 were from prisons, and the remaining 211 were imported cases.
A number of 83,698 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 528 patients are in critical condition including 102 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.63 percent of cases that are critical while 19.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,292, followed by Samut Prakan with 743, Nonthaburi with 499, Chonburi with 446, Phuket with 379, and Pathumthani with 245.
A total number of 465,154 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 43,799 people had received their first shots, 82,138 people had received their second shots, and 339,217 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.1% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 69.6% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 19.3% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 7,484 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,415,472 cases with 2,309,648 recoveries and a total of 22,126 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
