Thailand discovered a total of 7,526 daily Covid-19 infections with 19 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 7th.
The fatalities were 9 men and 10 women with the most numbers recorded in Ratchaburi with 6. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 29 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (14), diabetes (5), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (3), and kidney disease (6).
Of the new cases, 6,706 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 433 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 39 were from prisons, and the remaining 348 were imported cases.
A number of 42,580 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 547 patients are in critical condition including 140 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.28 percent of cases that are critical while 25.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Chonburi with 1,342, followed by Samut Prakan with 561, Bangkok with 456, Ubon Ratchatani with 431, Khon Kaen with 305, and Chiang Mai with 292.
A total number of 874,435 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 96,773 people had received their first shots, 346,446 people had received their second shots, and 431,216 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 64.6% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 10.4% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 2,895 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,252,776 cases with 2,188,397 recoveries and a total of 21,799 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
