Pattaya –

An unidentified male driver has fled after he crashed his pickup truck into a motorbike sidecar leading to one person’s death and one young girl sustaining serious injuries in Banglamung early this morning (January 3rd).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 3:00 A.M. on a road near a railway in Huay Yai.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a middle-aged woman who was unconscious. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead upon arrival.  The injured person was a young girl who had sustained serious injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for urgent medical assistance. The names or relationships of the two were not released by emergency responders pending notification of friends and family.

On the road, law enforcement found a heavily damaged motorbike sidecar that had been cut in half and a badly damaged white pickup truck. The pickup truck driver was not found at the scene.

A local resident, whose name was also not released to the press, claimed to law enforcement to have seen the unidentified male pickup truck driver escape from the scene by running into the woods nearby, seemingly uninjured. The witness, who called emergency services, said the pickup driver did not stop to check on the health of the people he hit and appeared only concerned with escaping before law enforcement arrived. Police are continuing their investigation to identify the pickup truck driver for further legal action.
