Fire destroys three ramshackle houses in Banglamung, causes panic in local community

Banglamung –

A fire destroyed three older, ramshackle houses made of zinc/sheet metal in Banglamung yesterday afternoon (December 29th). The resulting smoke could be seen many kilometers away, causing concern from many residents, social media, and even TPN readers.

Firefighters were notified of the fire at 1:00 P.M. at a housing community in Nongprue composed of various zinc, sheet, and metal houses, many temporary. Fireteams and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find local residents escaping from the fire, many in a panic.

The fire was heavily ablaze upon arrival and it took more than half an hour to control the inferno. Three older houses made of zinc/sheet metal were completely destroyed. According to nearby residents, these structures were primarily storage buildings and not residential dwellings.

Ms. Sukruethai Jampathong, 25, told The Pattaya News that the owner of a house nearby was removing parts of an old refrigerator to sell. There was reportedly a small explosion from the refrigerator before the fire started. The owner of this particular device was not identified by law enforcement or relevant agencies.

One woman was injured by the fire while she was trying to put out the blaze. Initial reports from the scene had been confusing causing many false rumors on social media to propagate, notes TPN media, but luckily only one person was injured and the rest of the community escaped successfully.
