A young driver has sustained serious injuries after he crashed his pickup truck into a parked truck in Phan Thong.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident earlier this week on the Phan Thong – Marp Pong Road in the Marp Pong sub-district around 5:00 A.M.

The first responders arrived at the scene of the accident to find the damaged pickup truck embedded into the parked truck on the road.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Tanakrit Kamsaman, 21, was stuck inside the cab. It took about ten minutes for rescue workers to free him out with a hydraulic cutter. He was taken to a local hospital with multiple injuries and described as being in serious condition.

His colleague, Ms. Ratchanok Martreang, 27, who was driving another vehicle following him told rescue workers, “Mr. Tanakrit had just finished working at 5:00 A.M. and came out from our factory nearby where we work the graveyard shift only five minutes before the accident. He had not been drinking or partying, he was driving home from work.”

The driver of the parked truck, Mr. Komkrit Promsarn, 41, told law enforcement, “I parked my truck on the side of the road before I went to buy breakfast nearby. I heard some loud brake sounds before the smaller truck spun and crashed into my rig.”

Phan Thong police are checking CCTV footage to find the exact cause of the accident and to investigate if Mr. Komkrit’s vehicle had the proper parking lights running.
