Thailand discovered a total of 2,940 daily Covid-19 infections with 30 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 23rd.
The fatalities were 15 men and 15 women with the most numbers recorded in Ratchaburi with 7. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 38 and 97 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (15), diabetes (10), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (3), and kidney disease (3).
Of the new cases, 2,705 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 125 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 53 were from prisons, and the remaining 57 were imported cases.
A number of 38,314 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 854 patients are in critical condition including 227 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.22 percent of cases that are critical while 26.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 437, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 227, Chonburi with 182, Samut Prakan with 171, Bueng Kan with 95, and Songkhla with 86.
A total number of 463,737 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 82,409 people had received their first shots, 166,260 people had received their second shots, and 215,068 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 70.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 62.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 7.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 2,798 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,202,001 cases with 2,142,186 recoveries and a total of 21,501 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
