The following is an obituary submitted to us by the Father Ray Foundation.
It was with sadness that we received the news of the death of Derrick Kane (Left in the picture), former Pattaya resident, founder of the Pattaya St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and President of the Pattaya Irish Society.
It was in 2010 that Derrick came to the Father Ray Foundation office to donate the proceeds of a golf tournament and also discuss the possibility of organizing a St. Patrick’s Day Parade here in Pattaya.
For the following nine years Derrick led the Parade, accompanied by Saint Patrick, and was very disappointed that the 10th Parade was canceled due to the pandemic.
It was always an event when Derrick arrived at the Father Ray office. He entered like a whirlwind, work stopped as he called out to everyone, telling jokes and he always made everyone smile.
It was a pleasure Derrick to have known and worked with you. Rest in peace.
