Ban Bueng, Chonburi –
A 62-year-old mother has been pronounced dead while her adult daughter has sustained injuries after their motorbike was knocked over by a hit-and-run driver in Ban Bueng this past weekend.
The Ban Bueng Police were notified of the accident on the Hua Kunjae – Nong Chark Road in the Nong Chark sub-district over the past weekend.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find two injured women lying on the road. Ms. Wimonrat Yakam, 37, had sustained chest and bone injuries but was cognizant and spoke to police and reporters before going to a nearby hospital.
She told Ban Bueng police, “My mother, Mrs. Boonruen Yakam, 62, and I were riding on a motorbike with a sidecar. I am not sure what happened, it took place so fast, one moment I was in the sidecar and the next I was staring up at the sky and could not move.”
Boonruen had sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead by emergency responders at the scene of the accident.
A security guard nearby told Ban Bueng police he saw a pickup truck crash into the motorbike sidecar before immediately speeding away.
Police are hunting for the hit-and-run driver to face legal action and have reviewed CCTV evidence in the area already.
