Thailand discovered a total of 4,704 daily Covid-19 infections with 27 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 5th.
The fatalities were 15 men and 12 women with the most numbers recorded in Ayutthaya with 3. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 25 and 97 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (11), diabetes (2), hyperlipidemia (5), obesity (2), and kidney disease (5). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 4,447 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 202 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 47 were from prisons, and the remaining 8 were imported cases.
A number of 71,482 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,263 patients are in critical condition including 328 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.76 percent of cases that are critical while 25.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 781, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 418, Songkhla with 311, Pattani with 181, Chonburi with 174, and Samut Prakan with 142.
A total number of 730,201 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 289,259 people had received their first shots, 330,424 people had received their second shots, and 100,518 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 68.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 58.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.1% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 6,149 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,141,241 cases with 2,048,815 recoveries and a total of 20,944 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
