Pattaya all set to hold Basketball Open 2021 competition, hoping it will boost tourism

Pattaya is all set to hold the Basketball Open 2021 this month and next month to boost sports tourism in the city.

A press conference held earlier this week was led by Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Ruemkitkarn and Mr. Sanpetch Suppabowornsatean, the president of the Pattaya Basketball Association.

The competition types and dates are:

  1. Street Basketball 3X3 tournaments will be held on November 26th to November 28th, 2021 at Terminal 21 Pattaya. This is open to the public, however, masks must be worn, temperatures will be checked, and social distancing is required.
  • Professional males
  • Amateur males
  • Amateur females
  • Under- 18 male aged not more than 18
  • Under- 15 Teenagers aged not more than 15
  • Under-12 Teenagers aged not more than 12
  1. Street Basketball 5 men tournaments will be held on December 1st to December 6th at Pattaya City 1 School.

Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Ruemkitkarn stated that he believed the event would draw sports fans to Pattaya and help tourism and the local economy, believing that such events was key to restore Pattaya as a top tourism destination following the Covid-19 pandemic.
