US government is planning to donate 1 million doses of Moderna Covid-19 vaccines to Thai government, Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry reveals

Bangkok –

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planning to inform the Thai Cabinet Committee that the government of the United States is preparing to donate an additional 1 million doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to Thailand.

Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai revealed to the press today, November 9th, that the US government is willing to donate mRNA vaccines to Thailand through the Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Public Health.

The Ministry then will propose the matter to seek approval from the Cabinet at the next meeting. The initial number of the Moderna vaccines was about 1 million doses, according to the authorities, and will be delivered to the Kingdom soon.

When being asked the exact delivery period, the Minister only stated that the vaccine is likely to be delivered to Thailand within this month. However, the time frame may be varied depending on the Cabinet decision and the decision of the Department of Disease Control.

It was unclear, notes TPN media, exactly why the US government was donating the vaccines and no explanation was explicitly given.
