Chonburi –
A 32-year-old driver has sustained serious injuries after his container truck collided with another container truck in Panat Nikhom district on Wednesday (November 3rd).
The man attempted to refuse all medical and law enforcement help despite being stuck in his cab and was later found to have allegedly been in possession of methamphetamine pills, according to Panat Nikom police.
Emergency responders were notified of the accident on the morning of November 3rd on Number 331 Road in the Hua Tanon sub-district.
The first response teams arrived at the scene to find two damaged container trucks on the road. One of the drivers was stuck inside his cab but was initially described as uncooperative and claimed he would escape himself and did not want assistance. This turned out, however, to be impossible.
It took more than one hour to free the driver who was later identified as Mr. Pichitchai Noneting, 32. He was bleeding heavily from wounds sustained during the accident.
Despite heavy bleeding and his injuries, Mr. Pichitchai tried multiple times to refuse all medical help and wanted to leave the scene, raising police suspicion of why the injured man was so defensive before Panat Nikhom police reportedly found two methamphetamine pills in the cab of his vehicle. Pichitchai was taken to a local hospital under police escort and is expected to be turned over to law enforcement after he gets treatment for his injuries.
The other driver, who was not injured, Mr. Wasan Janthong, 43, told Panat Nikhom police, “There was another accident in front of prior to our collision. I was slowing down the truck like other vehicles before Mr. Pichitchai crashed into the back of my vehicle.”
Panat Nikhom police stated they are investigating if Pichitchai was under the influence of drugs during the accident.
