SUPREME CHONBURI SEAL FIRST-DAY WIN IN FOUR-SETTER AGAINST SAIPA

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, October 1, 2021  Former successive twotime Asian Club winners Supreme Chonburi of Thailand overpowered Irans Super League champions Saipa in dramatic foursetter 2523, 2225, 2513, 2513 for their first win in Pool B in the 2021 Asian Womens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Friday.

Supreme Chonburi, which landed the Asian Club title two times in a row in 2017 and 2018, fielded a strong lineup led by powerful Wipawee Srithong and Waranya Srilaoong to beat Saipa 2521 in the first set, thanks to their excellent teamwork and solid defense.

In the second set, both teams were leveled 1515, but double aces of Soodabeh Bagherpour helped Saipa advance 1916However, Pleumjit Thinkaow saved the day for Supreme Chonburi when she produced sliding attacks to narrow the margin 1819 after Supreme Chonburis head coach Nataphon Srisamutnak asked for a timeoutSaipa blocked the Supreme Chonburis attacks and tore their defense apart with their attacks to close the closelycontested set 2522.

Supreme Chonburi took an early lead 41 in the third set forcing the head coach of Saipa to call a timeout to improve their fortunesStill, Supreme Chonburi came up with their exceptional tactics and form to win the onesided set 2513.

Supreme Chonburi came into the court in the fourth set with the winning attitude as they took the lead 84 and left the Iranian side by a wide margin of 167 at the second technical timeoutThe substitutions fielded by Saipas head coach Maryam Sadat Hashemi could not make any changes as their determined Thai rivals remained firm to take the comfortable set 2513.
