Thief steals bicycle in Central Pattaya, caught on CCTV

Pattaya, Thailand-

An unidentified thief reportedly stole two bicycles on two separate nights in the Central Pattaya area this week.

One of the two incidents was caught on CCTV and reported to the Pattaya News by the victim, a local ex-pat, Mr. Jon Kennie, and can be seen here below:

The video appears to show an unidentified individual wearing a hoodie and holding a bag approaching the ‘Giant Talon 2’ bicycle which was locked to the outside of a building at 4:07 A.M., just after a mandatory Covid-19 curfew in the Pattaya area from 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. The individual has what seems to be a pair of bolt cutters, inferring that the decision to steal the bicycle was made well in advance.

The person seen on the video manages to cut the lock and take the bicycle, leaving the area, within about 45 seconds. It is unclear from the footage as to any major identifying details of the suspect.

A second bicycle was also reported stolen the day before in front of the Drunken Duck on LK Metro around roughly the same time, according to reports from Mr. Kennie.

Mr. Kennie stated to The Pattaya News he had parked his bicycle, which is worth about 18,990 baht, around 8:45 P.M. in front of a building directly opposite of the Paradise Agogo, securing it with a lock. When he woke up in the morning and found the bicycle was missing he partnered with the owner of the building to review CCTV and found the incriminating footage. He then contacted The Pattaya News and law enforcement to file reports about the incident.

Any information that one may have about the potential thief can be given directly to Mr. Kennie at 0654505231.

Pattaya City Police stated that they are aware of the thefts and have stated they are looking into the incident.
