Drunk motorbike driver crashes in Si Racha, falls asleep on road uninjured, witnesses thought he was dead

Si Racha –

A reportedly intoxicated motorbike driver was woken up by a rescue worker on a road in Si Racha earlier this week, with local residents at first thinking the rider was deceased.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident on Nong Kwae – Amata City Road in the Borwin sub-district at 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday (August 25th).

Rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the motorbike driver lying on the road. At first, the rescue staff thought he was seriously injured or deceased-only to be shocked when the completely uninjured driver woke up after they began to conduct a physical health check on him.

He was later identified as Mr. Pitak Kaewnamkam, 25, a security guard of a nearby Nong Kwae company. His damaged motorbike was found nearby, also lying on the road.

Mr. Pitak reportedly told first responders, “I was leaving a party with my friends after work before driving back home.”

“I lost control of my motorbike before the accident. I was unable to get up as I was totally drunk and passed out, falling asleep on the road. I slept until the rescue staff woke me up. I don’t know how I escaped with no injuries.” Pitak concluded.

Witnesses to the incident told reporters that Mr. Pitak was swaying heavily while driving and lost control of his motorbike, falling off and crashing. Witnesses at first believed the incident had cost the life of the young rider but were relieved to find out that the man had just been very drunk-and very lucky.

Si Racha police did not immediately state if there would be any charges regarding the accident.
