Chonburi Covid -19 cases steeply rise to 335, hundreds from a market in Mueang Chonburi

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 335 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today, June 22nd.

This is the highest number of cases since the start of the recent round of infections in April, driven by two large clusters at a market and migrant worker dormitories in Mueang Chonburi.

This makes a total of 6,628 cases of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 1,624 still in medical care, and with a total of 37 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections in early April.

Additionally, 4,967 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began. 45 people were released yesterday.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 263, Si Racha 18, Banglamung 7, Panat Nikhom 4, Sattahip 26, Ban Bueng 3, Pan Thong 6, Bor Thong 3, Ko Chan 3, and two new cases transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  1. Cluster at New Market Mueang Chonburi, 233 cases (Active case finding)
  2. Cluster at Sattahip Market, 20 cases
  3. Migrant community dormitory in Khao Kansong, Si Racha, 5 cases
  4. Migrant community dormitory in Si Racha, 1 case
  5. Risky occupations that meets a lot of people, 1 case
  6. Close contact of a confirmed patient (From a private party), 4 cases
  7. Close contact of a confirmed patient in Bang Sai cluster, 1 case
  8. Overall close contacts of confirmed patients:
  • 23 family members
  • 9 co-workers
  1. Close contact of confirmed patients (Which is under investigation), 19 cases
  2. Cases are under investigation in general, 19 cases

A total of 458 contact searches were received today, 560 initial proactive searches, and more proactive search reports are pending.
