Whale shark spotted by fishermen off Pattaya coast

Pattaya –

A video clip posted on a Facebook account of a local fisherman this week captures the rare sighting of what appears to be a whale shark in the sea near Pattaya.

Two video clips, which have a length of about three minutes, was posted by Facebook user “Mai Yud Yoo Ning Naklua” (ไม่หยุดอยู่นิ่ง นาเกลือ‎), near Pai Island with the message reading “This is my first time seeing a whale shark. I have been a fisherman for ten years and have heard many stories but this is my first opportunity to see one and share it with the world.”

Video clips clearly show the whale shark was swimming with shark suckers around it at the back of the boat.

Fishermen from Koh Larn believe the whale shark has shown up in the area because of a lack of boats, tourists, and traffic in and around the local islands that has helped restore the local environment to the Pattaya Bay area.
