Three injured, one dead after being hit by racing pickup truck driver in Pattaya

A female motorbike driver has been pronounced dead at the scene while three people have sustained injuries after two pickup trucks were reportedly racing on local streets before crashing into two motorbike drivers last night (May 3rd).

The Nongprue Police were notified of the accident at about 9:00 P.M. near the railway in Chaiyapreuk, Nongprue.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged white pickup truck on the side of the road. The driver, Mr. Surachet Choochep, 29, had sustained only minor injuries.

Nearby, police found a damaged motorbike whose driver Ms. Wipaphon Wongsiri, 42, had been pronounced dead at the scene. A ten-year-old boy passenger had also sustained injuries and wasn’t named due to his age.

Another damaged motorbike was also found at the scene which had a driver who had sustained minor injuries and wasn’t identified. All injured parties were taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Witnesses told The Pattaya News they saw two pickup trucks racing on the street at high speed. One of the pickup trucks lost control and crashed into two motorbike drivers on the road.

Nongprue police are continuing their investigation to for further legal action. They are also investigating CCTV to identify the second pickup truck driver and Mr. Choochep will reportedly be taken in for questioning after being released from the hospital.
