Banglamung –
A 37-year-old motorbike driver has sustained severe injuries after he crashed his motorbike into a guardrail and fell from an overpass in Pattaya yesterday evening.
Rescue workers were notified of the accident yesterday (April 20th) on an overpass at Motorway 7, Section 5 on Sukhumvit Road in Nongprue at 6:00 P.M.
They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Samai Pakambut, 37, who had sustained serious injuries on the road under the motorway after falling a distance of about five meters. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.
On the motorway overpass, rescue workers found Samai’s damaged motorbike at a curve. Police are continuing their investigation and checking CCTV to determine the exact cause of the accident for further potential legal action. Mr. Samai landed on a Pattaya sign, as seen in the photos, which helped break his fall according to rescue workers, and may have saved his life versus landing on concrete.
The Pattaya News notes motorbikes are not allowed to legally use this motorway. However many motorbike drivers still use the motorway which has had several accidents and resulted in several people falling from this same location, despite many signs warning that usage of the motorway overpass is illegal for motorbike drivers.
