Honda LPGA Thailand 2021 tournament to still be held in Pattaya next month, no fans will be allowed in person

Pattaya, Thailand –

The popular women’s golf tournament ‘Honda LPGA Thailand 2021’ is all set to be held at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course from May 6th to May 9th, but this year, due to concerns about Covid-19, no fans will be allowed on-site.

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. together with IMG announced the tournament is proceeding forward despite the current Covid-19 outbreak in Thailand, yesterday (April 20th). Over 70 top female golfers from around the world will take part in the tournament and are currently doing quarantine at hotels around the country preparing for the event.  The popular annual event was essentially canceled last year but is proceeding forward this year, although with dramatic Covid-19 precautions.

This year the tournament will be held in a closed area with high standards and regulation of hygienic measurements from the Center for COVID–19 Situation Administration, or CCSA. The players are participating in a “bubble” style strategy in which they are not exposed to anyone from outside of their bubble and are limited in movements while in the country for the tournament.

Ms.Winnie Heng, Vice President, and Managing Director, IMG Thailand, the tournament promoter, said, “We have worked with the Sports Authority of Thailand to arrange an ‘Organizational Quarantine’ for all participants who are joining in the tournament. This was successfully used for recent international level badminton events and has proven to be successful in other countries for major sports events. The participants are under strict rules and measures to prevent potential exposure to anyone who might have Covid-19.”

“Our strict measurements such as health screening and travel requirements will make sure that everyone who is taking part in the tournament will have the best experience while following Covid-19 measurements,” Winnie added.

There will be no spectators at the tournament which will be live broadcast via PPTV Channel 36, www.pptvhd36.com, and ‘PPTVHD36’ application. The event is expected to be viewed around the world by eager fans of golf.
