Pattaya, Banglamung –
A Russian man has been arrested by a combined effort of area and provincial police in the Banglamung area for allegedly selling crystal methamphetamine to foreigners and soliciting prostitutes, allegedly exchanging drugs for sex.
The Russian man, Mr. Garanin Konstantin, 42, was arrested at a condominium in Nongprue late this week.
Police reportedly seized 1.57 grams of crystal methamphetamine and five million baht worth of property they said was obtained through illegal methods.
The arrest followed police receiving a tip-off from an anonymous concerned citizen that the suspect was selling crystal methamphetamine to foreigners in Pattaya and prostitutes. Those prostitutes were allegedly exchanging sex for drugs from the suspect.
Police said Mr. Konstantin had entered Pattaya six years ago. He is facing initial charges of illegal possession of a Category 1 Drug with intent to sell and illegal use of Category 5 Drugs (cannabis), along with other possible charges.
It is unknown if Mr. Konstantin has a lawyer at this time and he did not make a statement to the press confirming or denying the alleged charges.
