Banglamung officials raid Casanova club for allegedly not following Covid-19 related measures, open past legal closing time

Pattaya, Thailand-

Banglamung police raided the Casanova club, located on Soi Khor Pai, early this morning for allegedly being open past the legal closing time of midnight and violating various Covid-19 measures.

The raid took place at 2:30 AM this morning at the Casanova Pub located on Soi Khor Pai and was led by Mr. Wuttisak Singhadecho, Banglamung Sheriff, who ordered Mr. Pornchai Sang-iad, Permanent Secretary of Banglamung, to conduct the inspection and raid.

The inspection came following tips from concerned citizens who reported they were afraid the venue could be spreading the Covid-19 virus. In Chonburi, due to Covid-19 measures, the legal closing time is midnight. Prior to Covid-19 Pattaya was a special administrative zone and could close much later depending on area, however, that is currently suspended by emergency decree.

Additionally, a recent cluster of cases stemming from bars and nightclubs in Bangkok have led to officials conducting more inspections and ensuring all Covid19 measures are being followed.

According to Wuttisak, the bar was full of customers violating Covid-19 precautions, not wearing masks, bad not social distancing. The bar was also open hours past the legal closing time and selling alcohol past their licensed hours, according to his statements.

An order will be submitted for the closure of the business and the supervisor on duty was detained and brought to a police station to gather further information.

Wuttisak warned more inspections would be taking place as Chonburi recorded eight cases of Covid-19 today, raising concern from many officials.
