Pattaya-
A man described by Pattaya Police as extremely intoxicated was arrested last night, March 27th, 2021, at 9:30 P.M. after allegedly waving around what appeared to be a firearm and threatening to shoot people allegedly playing loud music at a local shop.
The incident occurred in the area of a Thai food restaurant and street stall on Pattaya Naklua Road, Moo 5. Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaowalit Suwanmanee responded to a call from neighbors of the tense situation and arrived at the scene along with Pattaya News reporters.
Mr. Kritsaphon Surathip, 38, was found shirtless and intoxicated at the scene of the incident according to Pattaya Police and was irate, threatening to allegedly shoot several people in the Thai restaurant. According to Kritsaphon, the incident was over alleged loud noises and escalated after he yelled from his third-floor window nearby to keep it down and the patrons in the Thai food shop, who were also drinking, refused to do so.
Mr. Yodrak Duangkham, age 36, a witness who had been drinking in the shop, stated that at this point Kritsaphon waved what appeared to be a firearm at the patrons in the restaurant which caused some to call the police for assistance. Yodrak claimed that the patrons in the shop did tone down the noise level but it wasn’t enough for Kritsaphon.
According to Lt. Col. Chaowalit, the weapon waved at shop patrons was a BB gun and not an actual firearm. Kritsaphon was, however, arrested and will face multiple legal charges for the situation and alleged threats. He remained in custody as of press time.
