Chonburi –

A local driver has blamed a wet road after he crashed his pickup truck into multiple shops in Chonburi earlier this week, claiming the accident was the fault of the road conditions and not his driving ability.

The Pan Thong Police were notified of the accident earlier this week (March 22nd) after midnight in Pan Thong at a collection of local roadside shops and stalls that had been damaged by the driver.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a heavily damaged pickup truck stuck inside damaged stores, with a variety of items and goods from the businesses scattered around the road.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Eakkaluck Pitajan, 32, told The Pattaya News, “I was heading from Bangkok to the Panat Nikhom district for work.”

“When I arrived at an intersection with a green light it was raining heavily. My truck’s tires lost traction and I spun into the shops, but it wasn’t my fault as the condition of the road was poor.” Eakkaluck continued.

Pan Thong police stated they will inspect CCTV at the intersection to determine if speed was a factor, despite Mr. Eakkaluck claiming that the road was at fault and not his driving ability.

Charges, according to Pan Thong police, are likely to be filed due to the property damage caused by the accident.
