Chonburi –
A local driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after careening into a parked truck whose driver was eating a late dinner in Mueang Chonburi after midnight yesterday (March 20th).
The Mueang Chonburi Police was notified of the accident half an hour after midnight on the Bypass Road in the Klong Tamru sub-district.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Boontawee Pantapiw, age not given. His neck had been broken and he suffered severe head injuries, later tragically passing away from them. A motorcycle helmet was found on the road and appeared to have been dislodged during the accident.

The truck driver, Mr. Tanongsak Onnaree, 47, told Mueang Chonburi police, “I stopped my truck on the side of the road to eat some noodles before Mr. Pantapiw crashed into the back of my vehicle. I had my parking lights on before the accident took place as well.”
Mr. Onnaree was not injured during the accident.
Mueang Chonburi police are checking CCTV footage nearby to see if the statements made by Mr. Onnaree about properly using parking lights was correct and to determine the exact sequence of events in the accident and if any charges should take place.
