RECAP: Thailand reports 96 domestic infections among 100 new Covid-19 daily cases with one additional death in past 24 hours

Thailand discovered 96 domestic infections out of a total of 100 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases with one additional death in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced this morning, March 19th.

Thailand’s 90th Covid-19 death was a 53-year-old Thai woman from Samut Sakhon with underlying health conditions of diabetes, a prior heart attack, and lung infection. She first experienced suspicious symptoms of coughing, sore throat, panting, and losing her sense of taste and smell on January 28th. The patient sought an RT-CPR test on February 2nd at a private hospital in the province and proved positive for the virus.

She was transferred to a local hospital in Bangkok and was reportedly wearing respiratory equipment at all times from February 3rd. However, her condition became critical as she was inspected with thrombocytopenia and a brain hemorrhage one week earlier before she was pronounced dead on March 17th.

Regarding the local infections, the majority of 55 cases were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were found in Samut Sakhon with 29, Bangkok with 8, Phetchaburi with 8, Samut Prakan with 4, Pathum Thani with 2, Narathiwat with 2, Mukdahan with 1, and Suphan Buri with 1.

The other 41 cases were reported during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, and migrant worker’s dormitories in Samut Sakhon with 18, Bangkok with 14, Pathum Thani with 3, Phetchaburi with 2, Ayutthaya with 2, Nonthaburi with 1, and Nakhon Pathom with 1. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment.

As of today, 73 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 27,594 cases with 26,450 recoveries and a total of 89 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
