Thief still on the run after stealing imported booze from bar next to Pattaya Police Station

Pattaya, Chonburi-

Pattaya Police are still hunting for an unknown suspect who was caught on video stealing booze from a beer bar located only a short distance away from the Pattaya City Police Station.

Mrs. Chaweewan Phoompat, 48, a cashier at Poppy Bar 2 in Soi 8 on Pattaya Beach Road in Nongprue explained the situation to The Pattaya News this morning, March 10th, 2021.

“At about 5:30 A.M. on Saturday (March 6th), a male thief aged around 30-years-old stole imported whiskey worth about 3,600 baht. My family and I were sleeping in the upper area of the bar. The bar is an “open” beer bar and exposed to the street, although we had a wall of stools set up to attempt to prevent entry.”

“I have already reported the crime to the Pattaya City Police with video evidence but they still cannot find the suspect. It has been already four days and because of the current difficult situation with tourism in Pattaya and lack of foreign tourists this crime is very difficult for our small business.”

“Pattaya City Detectives told us they have some solid leads on the suspect but still have not been able to positively identify him, other than a rough idea of where he lives based on CCTV tracking him returning to that area, but not an exact apartment or location.”

“Police are looking for more details on the suspect, including a possible name, which is why I released the video footage to the press hoping someone would step forward.” Chaweewan continued.

“I am very confused why they cannot arrest the suspect. Our bar is very near the Pattaya Police Station and we have been here many, many years. Many bars around us have gone out of business over the past year because of Covid-19 but we are still here, even though times are tough. We are hoping we can catch this suspect before he does this to other bars in Pattaya.” Chaweewan concluded.

The video is below. If you recognize the suspect you can report them directly to the Pattaya Police or visit the Poppy 2 Beer Bar on Beach Road.
