Local man found deceased in front of Jomtien restaurant, suspected suicide

Jomtien, Chonburi –

A local Thai man was found hanging from a rope in front of a restaurant in Jomtien this morning by horrified pedestrians (March 10th.)

The Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident at 10:00 A.M. at a closed restaurant on Jomtien Beach Road. The discovery was made by people out exercising who had noticed the horrific scene and immediately contacted law enforcement officials for assistance.

Police, emergency responders, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of a man who was later identified by police as a 53-year-old Thai man. His name was withheld per editorial policy. The man was a regular presence in the Jomtien Beach area and may have been homeless and destitute, according to Pattaya City Law Enforcement.

Police believe that the man passed away at least five hours before his body was discovered. Several types of medicine were found inside a bag near him, although the exact type was not revealed to the Pattaya press. His body was pulled down before being taken to a local hospital for a complete examination, including to determine if he had ingested narcotics or other substances prior to the incident.

Witnesses told police they were exercising along the beach before they saw the man hanging at the restaurant, causing them to call the police for assistance.
