Swiss national announced as one new confirmed case of Covid – 19 in Chonburi

The Chonburi Public Health Office today (March 4th) has announced one new confirmed case of Covid – 19 in Chonburi which is a 78-year-old Swiss national in Banglamung. Chonburi now has a total of 656 cases of Covid-19.

The patient, a Swiss national, 78, had entered Thailand before being quarantined at an Alternative State Quarantine in Bangkok. No Covid – 19 was found with the person during their quarantine and multiple tests

The Swiss national had entered Chonburi after they had been released from an alternative State Quarantine.

The Swiss national took a Covid – 19 test again as they were preparing to go back to their country and needed the test for the flight. The first test result was not clear. Their second Covid -19 test reportedly showed them as positive.

The Chonburi Public Health Office has yet to confirm if the viral load of the Swiss national is low or high, if it could be a residue of a prior infection, or the timelines of the case. The patient is reportedly asymptomatic.

Two close contacts of the Swiss national are being tested and quarantined.
