Chonburi teenager dies after crashing his motorbike into parked pickup truck

A young driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after he crashed his motorbike into a parked pickup truck on the side of a Chonburi road. The driver of the parked truck had pulled over to look up directions on a GPS unit.

The Muang Chonburi Police was notified of the accident over the past weekend on Bypass Road in the Baan Suan sub-district .

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Mr. Sahapat Tippuang, 18. He had sustained severe head injuries. He had been reportedly wearing a helmet, however, it came off during the accident. His motorbike was severely damaged.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Akkaradet Sangprach, 19, told local Thai media, “I was heading from Samut Prakan to a temple in the Mueang Chonburi district.”

“I got lost before I stopped on the side of the road to look up directions on my GPS unit. While I was researching how to get to the temple in Chonburi Mr. Sahapat crashed into the back of my pickup truck.”

Chonburi police are reviewing CCTV nearby to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the tragic accident.
