Pattaya-

A new sports field under the Bali Hai overpass in South Pattaya is expected to be ready to use at the end of this year, according to Pattaya City leaders today.

The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume personally inspected the construction area at the Bali Hai overpass earlier today, February 23rd, 2021.

Mr. Sonthaya told The Pattaya News, “The construction is planned to take place under the overpass. The sports field will be used for street sports such as basketball, skateboarding, football, and aerobics. Extreme sports are now very famous among teenagers. We also have a growing basketball community in Pattaya among adults, especially ex-pats.”

“The area in which the construction will take place is about 10 meters space from each pillar and with a 10 meter height.” The Mayor continued.

“The president of Thailand Extreme Sports, Mr. Piti ‘Tod’ Pirompakdee will take part in the overall construction design.” Sonthaya added.

“It is expected that the extreme sport fields will be completed by the end of this year.”

“Currently people are using the Bali Hai Pier and Terminal 21 to skate board, however, we want to provide a proper area. We have been planning this project since 2019, however, Covid-19 delayed the overall construction. We are now ready to resume the project. ” Sonthaya concluded.
