Sattahip, Chonburi –
A driver has been charged with reckless driving causing injuries after six people were injured in total in a five-vehicle pileup at a Sattahip intersection this week.
The Sattahip Police was notified of the accident in the early evening of Monday, February 15th, 2021, at an intersection in the Bang Saray sub-district.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find three damaged pickup trucks, a motorbike sidecar, and a motorbike.
Six people had been injured in total from the accident who were described as a pickup truck driver, Mr. Teerayut Chaiyo, 22, and pickup truck passengers, Mr. Danuphon Yangsiblo, 22, Mr. Samyuai Lengjamnong, 53, Mr. Somchai Panprasong, 45, Mr. Yuttana Poathongkam, 20, and Mr. Taweewat Samrongthong, 43. They were all taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance with a variety of various injuries.
Witnesses told police that one pickup truck was driving at high speed, lost control, and crashed into a motorbike that was driving in the opposite direction, sending the motorbike careening into other vehicles at the scene of the accident.
Sattahip Police told associated news reporters at this stage Mr. Teerayut has been charged with reckless driving causing injuries and property damage.
