Chonburi-

The Chonburi Public Health Office today (February 15th) has announced two new confirmed case of the Covid – 19 Coronavirus in Chonburi which are a foreign couple, an Australian and a Chinese.

The two new confirmed cases reported today are in Banglamung. Chonburi had zero confirmed cases for two days in a row until today. Chonburi now has a total of 652 cases of Covid-19.

The Chonburi Public Health Office Deputy Chief Doctor Wichai Tanasophon said in a public statement, “They are a foreign couple who are Australian and Chinese who have stayed in Thailand for three years.”

“They are asymptomatic. They got the test as they need health certifications for going abroad.”

“We believe they have had Covid – 19 for a long time as the viral load appears to be small.”

“ It is unlikely they are contagious due to the low viral load. However we are taking every precaution regardless.” Wichai concluded.

Out of precaution the two have been quarantined at a hospital and all their contacts are being checked. In Thailand, asymptomatic cases must be quarantined in a medical environment to be observed. For foreigners this would be at their expense unless they have a work permit and social security.
