The Thai Public Health Ministry advised couples to keep their distance on Valentine’s Day to prevent the potential spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus.
Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, the director-general of the Disease Control Department of Public Health Ministry, stated today, February 12th, that the Public Health Ministry asked couples to express their love and affection by carefully keeping their distance and reducing going out this year due to the situation of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic.
The couples, especially teenagers, were advised to follow the health measures together with measures to prevent sexually transmitted diseases under the new scheme “New Normal, New Safe SEX”.
According to the scheme, it is safest to refrain from sexual intercourse with their partners but if they are unable to do so, they are advised to use a condom. Having intimacy with new or unfamiliar partners is also not recommended during the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus.
The director-general added: “Some measures to prevent sexually transmitted diseases also potentially helped the domestic spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus. Therefore, lovers were strongly advised to stay safe physically and sexually at all times, especially during this Valentine’s Day.”
